A historic 6 km trek through pinnacles and military passages carved into the rock
The Road of the 52 Tunnels, on the Pasubio massif, is a Great War military mule track measuring 6,300 metres. The route runs from Bocchetta Campiglia to Porte del Pasubio, with 2,300 metres carved directly into the rock to protect the movement of soldiers and pack animals from enemy fire.
The work reveals unique details, including four spiral tunnels built to overcome major elevation gains. The nineteenth tunnel, the longest at 320 metres, and the twentieth, which climbs in a spiral, are especially impressive. Every tunnel has a number and an original dedication in memory of the Military Engineers.

Walking through History
The CAI 366 trail, within the municipality of Valli del Pasubio, offers views over the Piccole Dolomiti and reaches 2,000 metres, becoming part of a network of military routes also suitable for mountaineering. Once at Rifugio Papa, visitors can explore the Sacred Area with the Italian and Austrian Teeth, the Roman Arch and the War Cemetery.
Walking today through these tunnels and exposed stretches means rediscovering the collective memory of a territory deeply marked by conflict, while enjoying one of the most fascinating and popular hiking routes in the Vicenza Prealps.
