Rural

Cherry trees in bloom on the Pedemontana, mountain pastures with grazing cows on the plateau, vineyards stretching as far as the eye can see on the Berici Hills: Vicenza's rural landscape is a treasure to be discovered slowly.

Where time follows the seasons, not the clock

The province of Vicenza preserves an extraordinarily diverse rural landscape, where the countryside is not a backdrop but a protagonist. The Pedemontana between Thiene, Breganze, and Marostica winds through rows of vines, dovecotes, villas with gardens, and cherry trees that paint entire hillsides pink and white in spring. A profoundly Venetian landscape, where caring for the land is still a daily practice.

The Berici Hills are home to tranquil villages, olive mills with native olive groves, and wineries producing DOC wines of great character, along dirt roads overlooking the plain.

On the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni, the rural rhythm is that of the mountain pastures: the monticazione at the end of May—the cows’ ascent to the pastures—is still a collective event. The mountain dairies open to visitors allow visitors to witness the milk processing and purchase ricotta, tosella, and various aged Asiago cheeses directly from the farm. Festivals, local markets, and patronal feasts in the smaller villages offer authentic insights into communities that have not forgotten their roots.
