Riviera Berica Cycle Route: a journey at the foot of the Berici Hills

Cycling along the former tramway route between history and memory

The Riviera Berica Cycle Route offers a flat, asphalted 36-kilometre itinerary crossing 11 municipalities. Created from the recovery of a disused tramway, it now guides cyclists and families through medieval villages, rural houses, dovecote towers and canals, all immersed in generous natural scenery.

The journey starts in Vicenza at the Arco delle Scalette and immediately reveals Villa Valmarana ai Nani and Palladio’s La Rotonda. With a 5-kilometre detour you can reach Lake Fimon, before returning to the route towards Costozza, a village known for its villas and rocky walls rich in caves.

Cycling Through the Hills

Heading south, the itinerary reaches Lumignano with the Hermitage of San Cassiano, Castegnero with its local food heritage centre, and Mossano with the evocative Valley of the Mills. Along this foothill stretch, the view constantly opens onto the Berici Hills on one side and the Euganean Hills on the other.

The final section of the cycle route enters the countryside and reaches another highlight of Venetian architecture, ending in Pojana Maggiore in front of Villa Pojana. Thanks to dedicated E7 signage and its flat profile, the Riviera Berica Cycle Route is an outstanding choice for travellers seeking slow, authentic tourism full of emotion at every turn of the pedals.
