An itinerary of more than 140 km in the footsteps of pilgrims and merchants
Romea Vicetia is the Vicenza section of the Romea Strata, the ancient route travelled by pilgrims and merchants from Eastern Europe towards Rome. Over 140 kilometres long, it crosses the province and offers hikers an active, rural and sustainable travel experience.
The route splits into two branches: the first descends from Rovereto through the Val Leogra to Schio, Vicenza and Montagnana; the second connects Verona to Bassano del Grappa and climbs towards Enego. This dual nature reveals varied landscapes, from the Plateau peaks to the plain.

Between history and spirituality
Along the way, travellers encounter rich cultural and industrial heritage. In Schio, the route crosses the Lanificio Conte and the Fabbrica Alta, before reaching art cities such as Vicenza and Bassano. Every stage becomes an open-air museum where architecture speaks with the history of work.
The itinerary has strong spiritual and historical value, marked by the Pasubio Ossuary and places of faith such as the Sanctuary of Saint Josephine Bakhita in Schio. Among sanctuaries, forts and the Nativity Scene of Contrada Bariola, the path invites constant reflection on memory and peace.
