A 100 km itinerary between battlefields and rear lines
The Royal Route of England is a 100-kilometre itinerary retracing the route of the British Army during the First World War. It runs from the plain of Dueville to the Asiago Seven Municipalities Plateau, crossing woods where trenches and historic tracks are still visible.
The route touches places connected to military logistics and healthcare, such as the villas of Montecchio Precalcino and Zugliano, which were used as hospitals at the time. It crosses the historic centres of Thiene and Breganze and allows visitors to see the seven British war cemeteries in the area.

Between Architecture, History, and Nature
A central role is played by the Venetian Villas that hosted members of the royal family and high command. In Lugo di Vicenza, Villa Piovene Porto Godi and Villa Godi Malinverni are key stops; the latter was Palladio’s first work and the British Headquarters where the Prince of Wales, Edward VIII, stayed in 1918.
The itinerary then reaches the municipalities of Fara Vicentino and Calvene, combining mountain biking with a rich historical heritage. From UNESCO villas to the heights of the Asiago Plateau, every kilometre invites you to discover this deep bond with British history.
